This is a movement meant to inspire nourishment and connectedness in our community (Southwest, MI) through food and culture that honor simplicity, nature, and intention—building a more conscious, seasonal, and interdependent way of living.

My name is John Gibbons, and I believe in a community that works in harmony to nourish our bodies and souls by living in rhythm with the seasons, honoring our planet, and enjoying the simple pleasures that make us human.

The Pantry

...is the physical manifestation of the Wild Daisy movement rooted in its values of simplicity, regenerative food systems, and community.

This is where we take action! The Pantry is our outlet where we put our values into practice — a market place where we make nourishing and responsible foods by source locally, honor seasonality and practicing organic and sustainable production.

Ancient and humble, bread is one of the most quintessential artisan foods where humans and nature work together to create a nourishing and abundant food source. Bread is the soul of the pantry, a blank canvas for our culinary creativity.

The Vision

The Vision

We see a community that connects though a responsible food system. 

Wild Daisy is a living, breathing project with a mission to connect our community to a more resilient, responsible food system — one rooted in seasonality, ecological limits, and the true value of food. 

Organic. Regenerative. Real.

It begins with bread, but there’s more to come: coffee, herbal teas, ferments, preserves, honey, syrups, spreads, and other pantry staples — all made, grown, or sourced locally, with a few thoughtful imports (like coffee).

The vision is clear, but the form is open.

Whether it becomes a brick-and-mortar, a farmstead, or a mobile pantry, Wild Daisy is being built as a regenerative system with minimal negative impact and maximum nourishment.

The Problem

The Problem

Pick up any package at the grocery store and read the label. Do you recognize the ingredients? Xanthan gum. Natural flavor. Yellow 5. Sodium stearoyl lactylate. TBHQ. Do you know where the food came from? Berries from Mexico. Asparagus from Argentina. Salad greens from California. Beef, chicken, pork from Iowa—shipped across the Midwest. And behind those CAFO walls? We don’t ask. We don’t see.

​Our food system has gone fully industrial and we live with the consequences. This is nothing new and little has changed. 
Environmental collapse. Unsustainable economics. Animal cruelty. And the slow erosion of our health and culture. We've handed over our vitality to a few corporations who write their own rules.

Food, shelter, and water—our three basic human needs. But food is always listed first for a reason: it is our most intimate connection to life. And yet it’s been commodified. Rerouted through science, supply chains, and stock markets. We’ve created a system that feeds capitalism instead of people. One that forgets seasons, soil, and flavor.

That’s why Wild Daisy exists.

Not to fix the system, but to offer something different.
A reminder of what real food is and where it comes from.
What it means to eat in full consciousness.

As Wendell Berry wrote:

"Eating is an agricultural act... an ecological act... a political act."
“Though much has been done to obscure this simple fact, how and what we eat determines to a great extent the use we make of the world — and what is to become of it.”

Wild Daisy is a small act of resistance.
A way to feed our bodies and our minds.

My name is John Gibbons. I’m a food artisan based in Southwest Michigan. For most of the past 15 years, I worked as a coffee roaster, but over time, I found my way into kitchens—both professionally and at home.

What began as a love for the tactile nature of food quickly became something deeper: a way to build community through nourishment. I realized food could be a conduit to what I care about most—creating a small, self-sustaining ecosystem where people, ingredients, and intention all support each other.

I care about food, community, and excellence. My mission is to engage people in eating with full consciousness—a practice I call Food Chain Responsibility.
